We may be biased but 24 Hour Tailgate is one of the best fan traditions in the country, let alone DFW. We owe the fans' 24 Hour Tailgate to our brothers and sisters of the Inferno. When the pioneers of Dallas supporter culture wanted to mark the opening of Pizza Hut Park in mid-2005, Travis Bell came up with the idea of a 24 hour tailgate. After that first hot August night, a tradition was born to mark the start of each season - when it's thankfully much cooler! Fans have continued to gather and party long into the night for the past thirteen years and this year will be no different.
As the Dallas Beer Guardians grew, we have had the honor of arranging most of the food and activities for 24 Hour Tailgate over the past few years and we're planning on another great night out in the Toyota Stadium parking lot!
The night is also marked by FC Dallas. Lamar Hunt visited fans that first year to thank them for their support, and Dan Hunt has continued that every year since, even bringing pizza for fans and sticking around to have a beer and a chat long into the night with the Dallas faithful. Often coaches and players have also provided food and drink for fans as a token of their thanks.
This year we hope to have another memorable night before the boys take on New England Revolution in the 2019 MLS season opener. We will have announcements in the run up to the day, and will discuss it at DBG Town Hall on February 17 at Peticolas Brewing Co.
Don't forget if you have preordered the new DBG merchandise, including that sweet adidas Full 90 Member jersey, you'll be able to get your hands on those at 24 Hour Tailgate!
Where & When?
24 hours before the first home game of the 2019 MLS season obviously! Officially it's 3 PM on Friday, but there will be people getting an early start or setting up from around noon.
Currently, we will be meeting in our previous tailgating spot in the Red Lot. We understand that many of you have brought the idea of moving back to the Blue Lot for the 2019 Season. We are still in talks with multiple parties on this. If our lot changes, we will notify everybody ASAP.
We are going to hold a chili cook-off on the Saturday, and it's going to be judged by...EVERYONE!
The only rules are it's got to be home made and the grill monkeys' equipment is off limits. We'll have power outlets available for crock pots.
Registration will start at 10 AM and end at 11. Voting will take place at 3 PM and we'll announce the winner at around 4.
For $5, you'll get a cup, spoon and a ticket to cast your vote with. Proceeds will go to the game day fund that pays for things like tailgates, capo stands, the upkeep of instruments and tifo.
If you want to enter the cook-off, please sign up here.
We'll have FIFA18 available to play on PS4, and it'll be projected on a large screen. We are just keeping it to a gaming session, but there is the option of an impromptu tournament. We will have two controllers available, but feel free to bring your own for co-op play!
Food, Drink & More
As has traditionally happened, Dan Hunt will visit the fans just like Lamar did back in 2005. Dan usually brings Papa John's pizza for the fans on Friday evening and will stay for a while to have an impromptu Q&A session. Other appearances are likely but not confirmed, this is something that FC Dallas staff do of their own accord to show appreciation to supporters.
As always, our good friends at Peticolas are providing beer for all FC Dallas fans. We will have an early Saturday breakfast that is currently TBD. We will have the new 2018 DBG Spotify playlist running, which you can add your choice of music to, and will also have a DJ.
